What happens after the class?

Students who complete our introductory courses are qualified to serve as assistants at banding stations, but additional practice usually will be necessary for unsupervised work or obtaining a banding permit. A list of MAPS stations will be available during the class so you can copy the names and addresses of cooperators in your area. After the class you will receive a certificate stating that you completed the course and listing the skills and topics covered. We will do whatever we can to assist in placing you with a banding project near you as a volunteer or apprentice. Your instructors will provide references to other banders or to the banding offices on request.

Students who complete our advanced banding classes are likely to be active banders or former banders interested in resuming their banding activities. Again, we will be happy to provide you with information on active MAPS stations and banding permit holders in your area. You will also receive a certificate confirming your participation in the course and identifying the topics covered.
